Our big Can’t Stop the Serenity event kicked off yesterday with a fantastic crowd of Browncoats from near and far. For those who missed out on the fun, there were lots of prizes up for grabs – door prizes, raffles, auctions and costume prizes. We were lucky to have some fantastic costumes on show too! Merchandise was popular, but if you missed out on grabbing a CSTS 2011 souvenir, not to fret! Just send us a wave and we’ll hook you up! Dr Horrible’s Sing-along Blog was amazing (as always) and Serenity was enjoyed on the big screen in all it’s blu-ray splendor. The faboulous Global CSTS Team also pulled together a video to welcome and thank attendees featuring some famous faces such as Jane Espensen, Tahmoh Penniket, Clare Kramer and a special message from Joss Whedon himself.
Our fantastic volunteers pulled together a brilliant event, and a huge thank you goes out to each and every one of them. These amazing guys and gals put in hours and hours behind the scenes organising venues, screening materials, merchandise, prizes, raffles, tickets, web content and spreading the signal. Thank you!
And to every single person who spread the word, came along, brought a friend, bought a raffle ticket, bid in our auctions, created a costume, purchased some merchandise and made a donation – Thank you. You made it a fabulous event!
We’re working on wrapping up all the details, and we’re looking forward to announcing how much was raised for Equality Now so keep an eye out here!
If you have photos, we’d love you to add them to the Melbourne Browncoats Flickr Pool
